The purpose of the EMPG Program is to provide Federal grants to states to assist state, local, and tribal governments in preparing for all hazards, as authorized by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act.

The Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program makes federal funds available to states, U.S. territories, Indian tribal governments, and local communities to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). 

The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program makes federal funds available to states, U.S territories, Indian tribal governments, and local communities for pre-disaster mitigation activities. 

The purpose of the HMGP program is to help communities implement hazard mitigation measures following a Presidential major disaster declaration.  Hazard mitigation is any action taken to reduce or eliminate long term risk to people and property from natural hazards.

The Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant Program provides financial and technical assistance as well as national direction and guidance to enhance State, Tribal, and local hazardous materials emergency planning and training.

The purpose of Hazard Mitigation Grant Post Fire (HMGP PF) is to help communities implement hazard mitigation measures following the declaration of a Fire Managment Assistance Grant (FMAG).  Wildfires can destroy homes, businesses, infrastructure, and natural resources. They can also exacerbate secondary hazards and leave areas prone to floods, erosion, and mudflows for many years. The key purpose of this grant program is to enact mitigation measures that reduce the risk of loss of life and property from future disasters. 

NEHRP seeks to mitigate earthquake losses in the United States through basic and directed research and implementation activities in the fields of earthquake science and engineering.

The OPSG Program supports enhanced cooperation and coordination among Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States Border Patrol (USBP), and local, Tribal, territorial, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies.

The PDM Program is designed to assist states, tribal nations, and local communities in implementing a sustained pre-disaster natural hazard mitigation program.
