Earthquake Readiness

Earthquake Readiness

The current protocol being implemented across the nation for response to an earthquake is:

If an earthquake occurs while you are inside a building, move no more than a few steps, then Drop, Cover and Hold On:

  • DROP to the ground (before the earthquake drops you!),
  • Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and
  • HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops.

You are safer staying indoors until the shaking stops and it is safe to exit.

Print the  "What To Do Before, During And After An Earthquake" poster. Keep this close to your work area for your reference and post it in conference rooms, break rooms, etc. where employees and customers gather.

Montana earthquake history and what to do when the Treasure State shakes is presented in this short video. Start video icon
