Emergency Management Performance Grant

Emergency Management Performance Grant

EMPG

The Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building, sustainment, and delivery of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal (the Goal) of a secure and resilient Nation. The building, sustainment, and delivery of these core capabilities require the combined effort of the whole community, rather than the exclusive effort of a single organization or level of government. The EMPG Program's allowable costs support the efforts to build and sustain core capabilities across the Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery mission areas.

EMPG funding is available for County Emergency Management, Tribal Emergency Management, and certain State agencies with emergency management activities.

FY 2020 EMPG Reverted Funds applications opens May 17th and closes June 25th at 11:59 PM.
The applications will be available on FundingMT

You can find the State Guidance Document HERE.

There are two separate applications for reverted funds: Priority One and Special Projects.

Priority One applications: First priority projects will restore funding up to the amount originally requested to cover program expenses during the original grant period. Those restoring funding may also request up to 10% of their FY 2020 EMPG award amount in addition to the total amount their budget was reduced. Second priority will go to projects whose FY 2020 EMPG award was not reduced and are applying for up to 10% of their total FY 2020 EMPG award amount. Covers program expenses during the original grant period.

Special Projects: These projects are third priority for funds to cover improvements to emergency operations centers, improvements to daily emergency management programs, lease or purchase of vehicles, and other eligible projects.
